It’s with a heavy heart that I share this blog post. Last month, my friend and past client, Chris Deir, was tragically killed while traveling in Costa Rica (CTV News article here).
Chris was not only an incredible person but also the founder of Soul Advocacy Coaching. He dedicated his work to guiding people through transitions, helping them reconnect with their authentic selves. I had the privilege of working with him on his branding and website, and I’m deeply grateful to have captured his story in a podcast conversation that now serves as part of his lasting legacy.
Chris was the heart behind Soul Advocacy Coaching. His coaching practice combined Jungian psychology, depth psychology, and personal development to help people who were feeling “stuck” or in transition.
Through his work, Chris guided clients to:
His compassionate and symbolic approach helped clients understand the deeper meaning behind their experiences and reconnect with their inner guidance.
Before launching Soul Advocacy Coaching, Chris built a career in corporate finance, consulting, and real estate development. On the outside, everything looked “successful,” but he felt disconnected and unfulfilled.
That disconnection became a midlife wake-up call. Instead of pushing forward in the same direction, he courageously followed his intuition, trained as a Jungian coach, and founded a practice that reflected his true calling.
Chris described this as a process of soul advocacy—listening to what your soul is trying to communicate and aligning your life with authenticity.
Chris explained that Jungian coaching is different from traditional life coaching because it honors the symbolic language of the soul. He taught that life is constantly communicating with us through dreams, synchronicities, physical symptoms, and relationships.
By paying attention to these symbols, clients could uncover deeper truths about themselves and move forward with clarity.
This is the essence of Soul Advocacy Coaching: not just solving surface-level problems, but uncovering the deeper patterns and desires that guide us toward wholeness.
Chris’s entrepreneurial journey also reflected his values of exploration and slowing down. He embraced life as a digital nomad, traveling through Greece, Italy, and Mexico.
These experiences stretched him, taught him resilience, and enriched his coaching practice. He believed strongly in slowing down to listen—reminding us that even brief pauses can bring clarity and direction.
As he beautifully put it:
“Life is the river, yes—but it’s also our boat, our paddle, and the Northern Star we choose to follow.”
Chris was a gifted coach, an inspiring entrepreneur, and a kind soul who will be dearly missed. His work with Soul Advocacy Coaching continues to inspire us to live more authentically, follow synchronicities, and trust our inner guidance.
You can still visit his website chrisdeir.ca to explore his vision and offerings.
Chris, your light and wisdom will never be forgotten.
This blog post is just a glimpse of the wisdom Chris shared. You can listen to our full conversation on The Self Made Life Podcast, where he talks about entrepreneurship, Jungian coaching, and living in alignment with your soul.
